The Effect of Elderly Adult Diseases on Ocular Condition Change after Cataract Surgery

Abstract
Objective: This study is intended to look into the effect of adult diseases such as diabetes and hhypertension on ocular condition change after cataract surgery targeting 290 patients.

Method: The visual acuity change and differences in the clinical results and ocular conditions before and after cataract surgery were examined by statistical analysis using data of patients who underwent surgery in the ophthalmology department of metropolitan general hospitals.

Result: Overall, improvement of the patients' visual acuity after cararact surgery are statistically significant, but improvement of refractive power are not statistically significant. And visual acuity of patients with diabetes and hypertension are about 10% lower than without adult disease before cataract surgery, and about 16% lower than without adult diseases after cataract surgery, showing a significant difference.

Conclusion: Overall, adult disease such as diabetes and hypertension has a bad influence on visual acuity improvement after cataract surgery.
